Information we collect
Depending on the work or enquiry, we may collect:
- your name, telephone number, email address and postal or job address;
- job descriptions, photographs, access details and communications;
- quotations, invoices, payment and transaction records;
- electrical inspection, testing and certification information; and
- feedback or reviews you choose to provide.
Most information comes directly from you by telephone, email, WhatsApp, social media, the website or during a site visit. Information may also be supplied by a landlord, agent, contractor or other person arranging work on your behalf.
Why we use your information
Enquiries, quotations and electrical work
We use information to respond to enquiries, assess work, prepare quotations, arrange appointments, complete electrical work and communicate about the job. This is generally necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract or to perform a contract with you.
Invoices, certificates and business records
We use and retain relevant information to issue invoices and electrical certificates, keep tax and accounting records, manage warranties, deal with insurance or legal matters and comply with legal or regulatory duties.
Service quality and reviews
We may contact you once after completed work to ask for feedback or a review. We do not currently operate a marketing email list and we do not sell customer information.
Where information is held
Customer information may be held in business email, WhatsApp, telephone contacts, an invoice-record spreadsheet and electrical-certification software. We take reasonable steps to keep devices and accounts protected and limit access to information that is needed for the business.
How long we keep information
- Enquiries that do not become jobs are normally kept for up to 12 months, unless there is a reason to keep them longer.
- Quotations, job records, invoices and associated business records are retained for the period needed for tax, insurance, warranty and legal purposes. Self-employed tax records are generally kept for at least five years after the relevant 31 January tax-return deadline.
- Electrical certificates and related records may be kept for longer where needed to maintain a safety, certification or work history.
Information is deleted or securely disposed of when it is no longer reasonably required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to your information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction, transfer of information, or to object to certain uses. These rights are not absolute and legal record-keeping duties may sometimes prevent deletion.
To make a request, email hello@echoelec.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Contact and complaints
Please contact us first at hello@echoelec.co.uk or 07473 835666 if you have a question or concern about your information.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. Visit the ICO complaints service for current contact options.
